I believe it benefits society as a whole, it definitely benefits a select few more than it does society, but anyone can build themselves up to being part of that select few.

Capitalism is a great form of economy however America's capitalism has devolved over the past decade and exponentially increased in the past 4 years since 2024 January 1st. It allows the rich to stay rich while the quality of life for the average diminishes.

 @9H8XC7Z from Arizona answered…5mos5MO

Capitalism mostly benefits the rich as they sway the market's value and leaves the working class struggling to keep up in some cases as inflation increases.

I believe we have to strike a balance between pure Capitalism and pure Socialism. Unchecked, Capitalism leads to abuse of common resources and brings the strong potential for poor treatment of employees. Pure Socialism, on the other hand, stifles responsibility and innovation.

I believe that those who have worked for their success and have earned it deserve to hold onto their own wealth

It benefits society as a whole, though it benefits a select few much more while hurting the rest of the citizens in many ways. However, in a low trust society like the USA, it is the only way to ensure people don't freeload.

Absolutely, my father was poor and has built himself up over the decades. He wouldn't of been able to do it if he had to share his wealth.

I feel it is meant to help the whole but our loopholes in our society allows it to help only a select few.

It is important to acknowledge that though capitalism benefits most people in society, wealthier corporation are seen with most of the benefits.

 @9HB293K from Illinois answered…5mos5MO

I believe capitalism is a scale. One side must fall for the other to rise, and the heavier the fallen side becomes, the higher the rising side becomes. Just a select few.

 @9H7NY4K from Utah answered…5mos5MO

I think it benefits society as a whole. Sure there are people who are on the poorer side who could benefit, but usually they have less money because of their own decisions.

 @9H7RGBTfrom Maine answered…5mos5MO

It has the potential to benefit society but does benefit a select few when unrestrained

The wealth generated by capitalism generally benefits society as a whole; when our nation generates more wealth, we have a broader tax base to fund social services and greater influence over other nations. However, the current level of income disparity is a major problem threatening the success of our capitalist economy and our democratic form of government.

 @8QMMB5MGreen  from Pennsylvania answered…5mos5MO

The wealth created from capitalism (not necessarily the function of markets) is mostly concentrated in the hands of the elites. Yes, consumers will have access to an influx of products to choose from, but in the USA, it puts citizens in a hamster wheel to grow the economy.

 @9J7T84G from Kansas agreed…3mos3MO

The wealthy elite keep money in their pockets which leaves less money going around for the whole society. Most wealthy people always keep the money in the family, so not all of society receives the benefits of wealth.

 @9H7PH5M from Nebraska answered…5mos5MO

Capitalism is a fine but inefficient short-term solution to wealth and trade circulation but is not well-balanced or efficient enough for a long-term society to survive, and needs to be slowly reworked.

 @9H7WT8H from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

I feel it could benefit if people did it right but capatilism is such a greedy system so I would say it only benefits a few

 @9HB2XTC  from Michigan answered…5mos5MO

I believe the wealth created by capitalism benefits society as a whole. Businesses put wealth back into the society with the taxes they pay and the competition between them makes goods less expensive and higher quality.

People who are "wealthy" work for their money, there is no reason to tax them more when they work harder than you. If you complain about not getting paid enough when you're a drive through worker at burger king, work somewhere else.

Capitalism has been benefiting society in a positive way but in recent years it only feels like the rich have been benefiting the most.

 @9HB6ZS6 from Ohio answered…5mos5MO

I think that Capitalism benifits society as a whole because it gives the ability for people to be self-made.

 @9HB5SHG from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

It benefits a select few, while the rest may be inclined to struggle. Therefore, it benefits a select few only contrary to benefiting society as a whole.

 @9H76579 from Washington answered…5mos5MO

I think that as a idea, the wealth created by capitalism is designed to benefit society. but in reality the people that obtain this wealth hoard it and use it to create more wealth and more wealth and we eventually end up with most of the money in a couple 1000 peoples pockets while the other millions suffer- instead of this wealth being used to benefit anyone but themselves

 @9HB8LTB from New Mexico answered…5mos5MO

Capitalism does not benefit society as it only applies to a select few who make money off of the people beneath them. Capitalism breeds greed and an abundance of money to CEO's. Their should be no such thing as a multi-billionaire when there are people who struggle to pay their bills and survive.

 @9HB64FJ from Texas answered…5mos5MO

Capitalism, if conducted in a proper and fair manner, can benefit society as a whole.

 @9H7F6XPIndependent  from Washington answered…5mos5MO

I think capitalism is more efficient at distributing goods, meeting people's needs, adapting to change, and innovating. So it does benefit all people in society. But it's also limited - when it operates in opaque markets (healthcare, defense), when there are anti-consumer incentives (insurance industry), or when the costs of an industry are born by society rather than the companies driving the industry (tragedy of the commons like in the energy sector with carbon emissions), then bad things happen. The governments role should be to identify these sectors where capitalism fails the citizens, and ensure that transparency is mandated, the costs of those industries are fully borne by the private sector, and/or that there are public alternatives to the private options that are aligned with consumer interests.

It benifits alot of people some way more than others and it gives everyone a chance though it is not a equal chance but they still have a chance.

 @9HB5RVP from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

I feel as though it benefits a select few, our taxes go up because of them. I feel as though while there are people sleeping on the streets and spending their days scavenging for food no one person should have millions and billions worth of money.

 @9H8XKK3 from Texas answered…5mos5MO

Just a selected few. Humans as a whole are too greedy and self centered to help others. There are a few exceptions of course, but they make a small minority of the wealthy. An example that comes to mind is the risk of donating large sums of money to a charity. It is a good cause, yes, but if you donate large amounts of money and then suddenly go bankrupt within the next month, you may regret donating to that charity, and you may even blame that charity as the reason you are broke. It is not a bad thing, being wealthy, it is only a bad thing when you flaunt your money in front of others or belittle others for not being as wealthy as you. But if you are rich and wealthy and humble, constantly conserving and saving your money then it is fine to be greedy and self centered as it is merely self preservation.

Benefits society quite a bit as it creates economic stability not only people living in it but also a greater prosperity then those without it.

Capitalism is again striving for success, if you want something you have to put yourself out there and go achieve it with determination and hard work. I know hundreds of people who started off poor and became rich because they worked their *** off for what they wanted and achieved it.
