Do you feel that the wealth created by capitalism benefits society as a whole or just a select few?

Capitalism is a great form of economy however America's capitalism has devolved over the past decade and exponentially increased in the past 4 years since 2024 January 1st. It allows the rich to stay rich while the quality of life for the average diminishes.

Capitalism mostly benefits the rich as they sway the market's value and leaves the working class struggling to keep up in some cases as inflation increases.

I believe we have to strike a balance between pure Capitalism and pure Socialism. Unchecked, Capitalism leads to abuse of common resources and brings the strong potential for poor treatment of employees. Pure Socialism, on the other hand, stifles responsibility and innovation.

I believe that those who have worked for their success and have earned it deserve to hold onto their own wealth

It benefits society as a whole, though it benefits a select few much more while hurting the rest of the citizens in many ways. However, in a low trust society like the USA, it is the only way to ensure people don't freeload.

Absolutely, my father was poor and has built himself up over the decades. He wouldn't of been able to do it if he had to share his wealth.

Capitalism is a fine but inefficient short-term solution to wealth and trade circulation but is not well-balanced or efficient enough for a long-term society to survive, and needs to be slowly reworked.

People who are "wealthy" work for their money, there is no reason to tax them more when they work harder than you. If you complain about not getting paid enough when you're a drive through worker at burger king, work somewhere else.

Capitalism does not benefit society as it only applies to a select few who make money off of the people beneath them. Capitalism breeds greed and an abundance of money to CEO's. Their should be no such thing as a multi-billionaire when there are people who struggle to pay their bills and survive.

I think capitalism is more efficient at distributing goods, meeting people's needs, adapting to change, and innovating. So it does benefit all people in society. But it's also limited - when it operates in opaque markets (healthcare, defense), when there are anti-consumer incentives (insurance industry), or when the costs of an industry are born by society rather than the companies driving the industry (tragedy of the commons like in the energy sector with carbon emissions), then bad things happen. The governments role should be to identify these sectors where capitalism fails the citizens, and ensure that transparency is mandated, the costs of those industries are fully borne by the private sector, and/or that there are public alternatives to the private options that are aligned with consumer interests.

It benifits alot of people some way more than others and it gives everyone a chance though it is not a equal chance but they still have a chance.

I feel as though it benefits a select few, our taxes go up because of them. I feel as though while there are people sleeping on the streets and spending their days scavenging for food no one person should have millions and billions worth of money.

Just a selected few. Humans as a whole are too greedy and self centered to help others. There are a few exceptions of course, but they make a small minority of the wealthy. An example that comes to mind is the risk of donating large sums of money to a charity. It is a good cause, yes, but if you donate large amounts of money and then suddenly go bankrupt within the next month, you may regret donating to that charity, and you may even blame that charity as the reason you are broke. It is not a bad thing, being wealthy, it is only a bad thing when you flaunt your money in front of others or belittle others for not being as wealthy as you. But if you are rich and wealthy and humble, constantly conserving and saving your money then it is fine to be greedy and self centered as it is merely self preservation.
